By: Chance Nelson – If you’ve been on the first floor of Jewell Hall Mondays between 10:15 and 11:00 a.m., then you might have noticed a fun, creative-looking room with a group of students inside, actively engaging with some prominent individuals in the business world. If you’ve been wondering what’s going on and if you like the idea of free coffee and pastries, then wonder no more…This is BizTime.
BizTime is a weekly gathering of students, faculty and guests from the professional community to casually discuss topics of interest on the subjects of innovation, business, economics, leadership and entrepreneurship. According to Executive In Residence Don Huntington, “The purpose of BizTime is to provide a setting in which students, faculty and guests can get to know each other, learn from each other and develop a robust community over a casual cup of coffee.”
It was started in the spring semester of 2013 by Don Huntington and since then, over 100 speakers from the business community have met with students during BizTime coffees. This semester, senior Jack Kutey has helped organize and host the BizTime events.
This weekly event is not exclusive to just business majors; in fact, all students are encouraged to attend. The opportunity to make connections with established individuals in the business world is always beneficial — so take advantage of the free coffee and pastries and meet new people. Learn something new.
Where: IDEA X-Change, Jewell Hall Room 103
When: Mondays during Jewell Time – 10:15 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.
