Two Jewell Students Awarded Certified Management Accounting Scholarships

cma-logo copyBy Kelsey Wagner – The IMA (Institute of Management Accountants) has created a scholarship for future accountants and financing professional. Kelsey Nickerson and Kassandra Whitworth are the first students at William Jewell to be awarded the Certified Management Accountant Scholarship. The Certified Management Accountant Scholarship is awarded to students in the top 5% of their major and comes with a package which covers the cost for one attempt at the CMA exam and various study tools to ready the student for the CMA exam.

Kelsey and Cassandra were informed about the scholarship by Accounting Professor Chris McCullick, who learned about eligibility for the scholarship in a conference this past November. According to Professor McCullick, “A scholarship which allows students to take a free crucial exam to succeed and excel in the career field is a great opportunity and is very important to those receiving it.”

Ms. Nickerson said, “This scholarship means that we will be prepared to earn the CMA certification and will open up many doors and various job opportunities”.
