By Dakkota Huber – The William Jewell Entrepreneurial Society is a student organization founded two years ago with the mission of being a catalyst for business startups and growth, and networking within William Jewell College and the surrounding community. The E-Society is a growing organization whose work is conducted during regular weekly meetings and special events.

Stanley Singer Jr., President of the Entrepreneurial Society, said, “We provide energizing activities that range from developing our creativity and innovation skills to “half baked” start-up ideas for which we develop a hypothetical business model and then consider the estimated potential, costs and strategies to turn a product or service idea into a business. Our members provide a light-hearted and exciting tone to our meetings. They are always filled with laughter and great new ideas.”

The E-Society recently hosted the Square Bear Workshop, an event in which students discussed the processes and experiences of starting a new business with representatives of Square Bear, the fun and fashionable casual clothing line based on pride in dressing the part of a unique individual. During the workshop, students heard about the importance of maintaining motivation while running a startup business.

On April 23 and 24 during Jewell Time, the E-Society manned a table in the Yates-Gill College Union to encourage students to learn more about and get involved with entrepreneurship.
