By Kelsi Ortega – On December 4th, William Jewell College hosted the High School Service and Leadership Forum. 155 students from 10 schools in the Kansas City greater area attended the forum, which focused on meeting community and global needs by use of service and leadership.
According to Professor Cory Scheer, students who attended the forum, “learned from high impact speakers and facilitators, connected with other high school students in Kansas City and were inspired to continue to make a positive difference through leadership and service with relevant concepts and resources.”
Throughout the day, William Jewell College faculty, staff members and Student Ambassadors were there to help attendees in various ways. The Student Leader from William Jewell College is Kendall Stewart. Activities included a morning keynote address by Chris Miller, Former Kansas City Affiliate Director of YVC, a lunchtime keynote address by Matt Meyer, CEO of Red Cross of Greater Kansas City, leadership initiative games facilitated by Tucker Leadership Lab Staff, several breakout sessions and a leadership panel discussion.
