By Kristen Stivers – In January, the William Jewell Department of Business and Leadership welcomed Professor Chris McCullick, CPA to the faculty. Professor McCullick is no stranger to the area, having grown up in Gladstone, Missouri and studying at Oak Park High School in Kansas City.

Prior to joining the Jewell faculty, Professor McCullick worked as a CPA (auditor) for two different Public Accounting Firms: Deloitte and Touché, LLP and Novak Birks, PC. He also served as Senior Internal Auditor at Euronet Worldwide, Inc. where he traveled the world performing audits for different branches and subsidiaries of the company.

Professor McCullick earned his Bachelors of Science-Accounting and Masters of Accountancy (2006) degrees at Missouri State University. While at Missouri State, he was a member of the accounting honors fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi. The fraternity’s service commitment encouraged members to perform tutoring services each semester and it was through this work that he began to recognize his passion for teaching and helping people understand accounting concepts. Professor McCullick then spent a year in China teaching accounting for Missouri State’s Dalian branch – an experience that convinced him to pursue a career in education. Before joining the faculty at Jewell, he served as an adjunct professor at Park University.

When he is not teaching classes, Chris enjoys rock climbing, hiking, and many other outdoor activities. He also enjoys traveling and would like to explore the Amazon and take an African Safari someday.

Professor McCullick currently teaches two sections of ACC 111 and one section of BUS 315 (Financial Management). He is looking forward to teaching an auditing course in the fall of 2013. Although he has only been on the Hill a short time, he has quickly come to appreciate the wonderful Jewell community as well as the beautiful campus.
