By Luke Longfield – There are many great programs and clubs for students to join at William Jewell College, but for business students, one in particular stands out: the Entrepreneurial Society. The Entrepreneurial Society at Jewell is an excellent opportunity for students to meet and learn from successful entrepreneurs and business executives in the Kansas City area.
Senior business major Troy Fletcher founded the Entrepreneurial Society as a sophomore. His idea was to create a community within the student body in which students would share ideas about business and new venture creation while also learning from distinguished guest speakers. Over the past two years the Society has welcomed presentations from Tom Bloch, former CEO of H&R Block and co-founder of University Academy, Russ Cline, president of RCA Group, Jennifer Ward, founder of Be Free Bakers and Scott McCormick, co-founder of VML, Inc. The most recent speaker was Jesse Montgomery, director of client services at DST Systems who met with the Society at its September meeting.
In October the Entrepreneurial Society will host Mr. Barnett Helzberg of Helzberg Diamonds. For information, contact Troy Fletcher or vice president Chloe Kittle.
